About Michelle
Michelle's journey in the healthcare field began after graduating from NYU with an undergraduate degree in nursing with distinction. She then went on to the SUNY Downstate School of Health Related Sciences, completing her master’s degree in nurse-midwifery, graduating with honors, and becoming board-certified. She started her initial career as a midwife, caring for women during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and throughout the lifespan. After a decade spent caring for women as midwife, she recognized the impact of mental health disorders on the lives of women and their families. She sought further specialization as a psychiatric nurse practitioner to provide comprehensive care for this specific population, who were often told they could no longer take psychiatric medication when they became pregnant. She received her second board certification as a psychiatric nurse practitioner from SUNY Stony Brook. Michelle continues to pursue additional training in reproductive psychiatry, delving into the intricate connection between women's reproductive experiences and their mental well-being. She received certification in perinatal mental health from Postpartum Support International, a renowned advocacy and educational organization and one of the first to offer this certification.
